As we birth our children, we find ourselves growing into something different, something more. We know chaos precedes change. In recent times, we find ourselves more alone, distressed and judged as we try and navigate the chaos. While there is a lot of information on birth today, the postpartum period and the woman are often neglected. Our traditions and rituals were meant to be a container for her to make this transition; those may now feel like a cage as she is overwhelmed between the demands of biology and society.
We at The Doula Collective have created this postpartum support group as an endeavor to recreate that container where women can be witnessed as they make this transformation. A circle of women, lovingly giving the mother enough space to spread and yet not scatter.
We will be facilitating live weekly online meetings that are meant to offer this warm, welcoming, inclusive and non-judgemental space. The groups are FREE, OPEN TO ALL and will be facilitated by trained doulas from our professional community.
Our doulas who are sensitive support givers and often mothers themselves, are skilled in holding space for these gatherings. This is a peer support group, the scope does not extend to treatment or therapy.
Our endeavour is to have one live online zoom meeting every week which will be facilitated by one of us.
If you wish to be a part of this, you can join our broadcast only WhatsApp group that’s meant for sharing the weekly meeting details.
